Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Concert
Featuring Tony Orlando
May 24, 2017

HAWAII HONORS VIETNAM VETERANS WITH A FREE CONCERT FEATURING TONY ORLANDO

Honolulu, Hawaii – Free concert event featuring internationally acclaimed singer Tony Orlando, local favorite Gordon Freitas, Peter Apo and special guest speakers, to honor Vietnam War Veterans and their families at the Waikiki Shell, Wednesday, May 24 at  6PM.

As America’s participation in the Vietnam War drew to an end “Tie A Yellow Ribbon ’Round the Ole Oak Tree” was the number one single on the charts in 1973.  It became Tony Orlando’s theme song and grew into an American anthem of hope, homecoming, reunion and renewal. The yellow ribbon has welcomed home POWs from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, the hostages from Iran and the troops from Desert Storm.

The Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans concert featuring Tony Orlando is a time to remember the commitment of those who served our country in one of the most controversial foreign engagements in which the US has participated. The Welcome Home event offers an uplifting and encouraging evening of music and complimentary dinner for all Vietnam Veterans plus one guest.

Hawaii residents and visitors are encouraged to bring your friends and family to come show your respect and pay tribute to those who served during the Vietnam War.

Born in South Africa to a black South African mother and a white European father, Noah has hosted numerous television shows including South Africa’s music, television and film awards, the South African Comedy Festival and two seasons of his own late night talk show, Tonight with Trevor Noah. He made his U.S. television debut in 2012 on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has also appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on either late night show.

This year, Noah debuted his 9th new comedy special Afraid of the Dark on Netflix. The special was shot before a packed house at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on November 5, 2016. His 2015 Comedy Central stand-up special, Trevor Noah: Lost in Translation, brought Noah’s unique world view and global analysis of American culture to the forefront. Noah was the subject of David Paul Meyer’s award-winning documentary film You Laugh But It’s True which tells the story of his remarkable career in post-apartheid South Africa.

He continues to tour all over the world and has performed in front of sold out crowds at Hammersmith Apollo in London, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and countless cities throughout the United States.
